This dunya\nhas been designed to demonstrate both the majesty and glory of Allah SWT and to\nprovide us with an opportunity to seek the pleasure and mercy of Allah SWT in\nour worship of Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However,\nthis world is a world that contains injustice, pain and tests for each and\nevery one of us to experience. If it was a utopia then this world would cease\nto be a test and it would not be possible to distinguish between those who\nsincerely worship Allah SWT and those who are hypocrites or deceivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the world\nis designed in such a way that Shaitaan has the perfect playground to deceive\nus and to mask us in deception and lies. From the way we interact with others,\nto the food and drink we eat, every part of our lives has the potential to\ndeceive us and to make us stray from the path of Allah SWT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The imam\nreminded us of this by referencing the 5th<\/sup> ayat of Sura Fatir which\nis translated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O humanity! Indeed, Allah\u2019s promise is true. So do not let\nthe life of this world deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver deceive you\nabout Allah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear\nbrothers and sisters, we live in a world now where the level of distraction\nfrom worship is unlike anything mankind has faced before. The level of\nintricacy and thought that goes into distracting us is at levels that could not\nhave been imagined 100 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Billions of\npounds is spent into technology to ensure that our attention is spent on their\nagenda and their want for us. Just the way in which our phone provides us with\na notification is years of research and millions of pounds spend on\npsychologists and people who study human behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is no\nwonder that the reminder today is such an important one. We must be mindful\nthat this life is only temporary and before we know it, it will be over and we\nwill have no opportunity to correct the habits that may  be damaging us today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The imam\nreminded us of this point by referencing the 33rd<\/sup> ayat of Sura\nLuqman which is translated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O humanity! Be mindful of your Lord, and beware of a Day when\nno parent will be of any benefit to their child, nor will a child be of any\nbenefit to their parent. Surely Allah\u2019s promise is true. So do not let the life\nof this world deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver1 deceive you about\nAllah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so dear\nbrothers and sisters, we need to provide ourselves with an occasional jolt or\nshock to the system that brings us out of this slumber that so many people are\nin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cannot\nafford to not think of a tomorrow and dwell on this dunya because one day it\nwill all end and it will all end for humanity as a whole. The imam reminded us\nof this in the 26th<\/sup> and 27th<\/sup> ayat of Sura Rahman which is\ntranslated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every being on earth is bound to perish. Only your Lord\nHimself, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain \u02f9forever\u02fa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the 13th<\/sup>\nand 14th<\/sup> ayats of Sura Al-Hadid which is translated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that Day hypocrite men and women will beg the believers,\n\u201cWait for us so that we may have some of your light.\u201d It will be said\n\u02f9mockingly\u02fa, \u201cGo back \u02f9to the world\u02fa and seek a light \u02f9there\u02fa!\u201d Then a\n\u02f9separating\u02fa wall with a gate will be erected between them. On the near side\nwill be grace and on the far side will be torment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tormented will cry out to those graced, \u201cWere we not with\nyou?\u201d They will reply, \u201cYes \u02f9you were\u02fa. But you chose to be tempted \u02f9by\nhypocrisy\u02fa, \u02f9eagerly\u02fa awaited \u02f9our demise\u02fa, doubted \u02f9the truth\u02fa, and were\ndeluded by false hopes until Allah\u2019s decree \u02f9of your death\u02fa came to pass. And\n\u02f9so\u02fa the Chief Deceiver deceived you about Allah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, dear\nbrothers and sisters, this reminder concludes with 3 practical tips you can\ntake to not become deceived by this life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read the Quran and contemplate the\nmeaning. For those who need extra support, read the tafsir of the Quran or a\ngood translation or watch videos dedicated just to the study of the Quran to\nbetter understand the word of Allah SWT and keep you connected to the real life\nwhich is yet to come.<\/li>
  2. Visit the graves of those who have\npassed away. This is both a form of charity as you offer prayers for those who\nhave passed but for you it is an opportunity to remind yourself that as you\nlook down on the ground to the person buried below, that is without any doubt,\nthe same place you will be one day.<\/li>
  3. Be mindful of your own actions. Don\u2019t\nlive life without contemplating your behaviour and your actions. Take a moment\nat the end of the day to reflect on the day you\u2019ve had, could you have done\nsomething a bit better, did Shaitaan cause you to do something without you\nrealising it, what the signs from people around you or the feeling of the day\nin terms of how well you conducted yourself inside of it? These are all valid\nquestions to help one become mindful and therefore a better Muslim and not get\nas trapped in the deception that is there every day.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Dear\nbrothers and sisters, this world both temporary and a delusion. Even the best\nof us can get caught in the trap now and again. Let us use todays reminder to\nkeep ourselves mindful so that we keep our focus on the true purpose of this\nlife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
