Today\u2019s\nreminder is the third in the series of the night prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This final\nreminder is on the method by which the night prayer is performed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly, the\nimam gave clarification on the witr prayer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As stated by\nscholars and mentioned in hadith, the minimum night prayer that is counted for\nWitr prayer is 1 rakat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are\nnumerous hadith that mention this point and the imam mentioned the following in\norder to illustrate this point. The Prophet SAWS is reported to have said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you\nfear that dawn will come, pray witr with one.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear\nbrothers and sisters, we are taught that witr prayer is done in three but in\nactual fact this is not the only option available to us. Allah SWT has not made\nour religion a difficult one and so those who want to pray less than three can\ndo so, just as much as those who want to pray an odd number greater than 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The imam\nrelayed the following hadith in relation to this point. It is translated to\nsay:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That the Prophet (\ufdfa) said: ‘Witr is a duty, and whoever wants\nto pray witr with seven (rak’ahs), let him do so; whoever wants to pray witr\nwith five, let him do so, whoever wants to pray witr with three, let him do so;\nand whoever wants to pray witr with one, let him do so.'”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers\nand sisters, this is the clarification of the night prayer and this differs\nfrom the voluntary prayer that is prayed in the night. The obvious difference\nhere is that the voluntary night prayer is done in units of two rakat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The imam\nrelayed a hadith to us to illustrate the difference in which the Prophet SAWS\nsaid:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“the (voluntary) day and night prayers are two Rak’at,\ntwo Rak’at (in pairs).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear\nbrothers and sisters, this reminder concludes the series on the night prayers. To\nsummarize the night prayer is one that has great benefit and mercy attached to\nit and the reasons for it are many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We spoke of\nthese during this series on the night prayer but this reminder today concludes\nonce more with reasons as to why they are such an important part of our worship\nand why we should all be trying to incorporate them into our night schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
