Dear brothers, this is the best day of the week as Muslims\nand so this is the perfect day to follow the example of the Prophet SAWS and to\ngain reward with Allah SWT. This is mentioned in the Quran by Allah SWT in Sura\nAl-Jummah, ayat 9:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O you who believe, When the call\nis proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the day of assembly), hasten earnestly to\nthe remembrance of Allah, and leave off business (and traffic) : That is the\nbest for you if you but knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, we have been blessed with many mercies from\nAllah SWT and they really are too many in number to mention but as the topic of\nJumma is this week\u2019s khutba, it is important to relate the following hadith in\nwhich the Prophet SAWS said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhoever goes out of his out on\nday of Friday then prayed two Rak\u2019as and did not cause any nuisance and then\nlistened until the Imam finished, then prayed with the Imam then Allah will\nforgive his sins between this Friday and the next\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, here we have the Prophet SAWS informing us of\nhow to wipe the slate clean from one Friday to the next. How important it is\nthen that we adhere to the manners associated with this blessed day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remainder of this khutba outlines the manners and\nblessings associated with this day so that we can aim to be of the people that\nare mentioned in the Hadith above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the manners of this day is to read Sura Kahf. We should\ntreat this like we do any routine appointment or meeting we have in our calendars\nand put it in our schedule to be completed every Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another point worth remembering is the danger of missing\nthis prayer. The imam reminded us about the following hadith in which it is\ntranslated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“People must cease to\nneglect the Friday prayers, or else Allah will seal their hearts and then they\nwill be among the unmindful.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, we are blessed to live in a part of the world\nwhere we are still able to practice our faith freely. As challenging as it may\nbe to come for Friday prayers in a country where this day isn\u2019t a weekend day, we\nmust remember that there is a warning to those who neglect this prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And alongside this, it\u2019s worth remembering one of the jewels\nof this day and that is conveyed in the following hadith in which the Prophet\nSAWS said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friday is divided into twelve\nhours. Amongst them there is an hour in which a Muslim does not ask Allah for\nanything but He gives it to him. So seek it in the last hour after the\nafternoon prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, Salat al-Jumuah is one of the most important\nacts of worship in Islam. The Prophet (sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam) has\ndescribed the wonderful blessings and benefits that Allah has promised Muslims\nthrough this magnificent act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowing how important this prayer is in Allah\u2019s SWT sight,\nMuslims must do their best to perform it in the best way possible. They should\nstrive and sacrifice for the sake of this Prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May Allah SWT enable us to recognize the importance of this\nblessed day. May Allah SWT give us the ability to carry out the manners\nassociated with this blessed day.
