Following on from last week\u2019s reminder, we are reminded this\nweek of the test of the grave. Both in the Quran and in the teachings of the\nProphet SAWS, we are reminded of the test of the grave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And make no mistake, this is a test that is both coming for\neach and every one of us and it is something that we cannot take lightly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Allah SWT warns us repeatedly of those who will suffer in\ntheir grave. The imam, for example, mentioned ayat 93 of Sura Al-An\u2019am which is\ntranslated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who does more wrong than the one\nwho fabricates lies against Allah or claims, \u201cI have received\nrevelations!\u201d\u2014although nothing was revealed to them\u2014or the one who says, \u201cI can\nreveal the like of Allah\u2019s revelations!\u201d? If you \u02f9O Prophet\u02fa could only see the\nwrongdoers in the throes of death while the angels are stretching out their\nhands \u02f9saying\u02fa, \u201cGive up your souls! Today you will be rewarded with the\ntorment of disgrace for telling lies about Allah and for being arrogant towards\nHis revelations!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Sura Al-Anfal, ayat 50 which is translated to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If only you could see when the\nangels take the souls of the disbelievers, beating their faces and backs,\n\u02f9saying,\u02fa \u201cTaste the torment of burning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, for those of us who have heard this reminder\nbefore, we are taught from the Prophet SAWS that we will be asked about our\nGod, who we followed and to which faith did we belong by the angels when we are\nlying down in our graves. Just this point alone is harrowing to think about.\nImagine how that will feel and only Allah SWT knows exactly how that will be for\neach of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And for those amongst us who are thinking that we know the\nanswers to these questions, the reminder today is that this isn\u2019t questioning\nlike you have in an exam or test, it isn\u2019t enough to just utter then answers to\nthese questions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear brothers, we need to live the answers to these\nquestions. Ask yourself, is your conduct, your manners, your everyday behaviour\nan answer to these questions. Are you living by the teachings of the book of\nAllah SWT? Are you adhering to the sunnah of the Prophet SAWS? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We can all say that Allah is our God, the Prophet SAWS is\nour teacher and Islam is our deen but does our life reflect these answers? This\nis the reminder today and it is a reminder that each and every one of us should\nreflect upon consistently as none of us know when our time will come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prophet SAWS is reported to have said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“When you die, your place\nwill be shown to you in the morning and the evening. If you are one of the\npeople of the Garden, then you will be with the people of the Garden, and if\nyou are one of the people of the Fire, then you will be with the people of the\nFire. You will be told, ‘This is your place of waiting until Allah raises you\non the day of rising.’ ” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And so we need to take steps today to ensure that we are of\nthose people who are shown the beauty of the afterlife in our graves. And we\ncan all achieve this by simply living the life Allah SWT has instructed us to\nlive, optimistic in the knowledge that one day we will return to Him who will\nbe happy with how we lived our lives in this dunya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May Allah SWT make us of the people of the Garden, may Allah\nSWT make our test in the grave an easy one and may Allah SWT enable us to live\npractically the answers to the questions of the grave.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
